Tracking Lawmaker Earmark Requests

Posted by Valerie on July 22, 2008

About a month ago, the Sunlight Foundation asked citizens to call their “members of Congress and ask them to fully disclose all their earmark requests for next year’s budget on their official Web sites.” Last week they posted an update, and there’s information on less than half the number of Members of Congress.

The list of lawmakers and their earmarks is here – so far Rep. Jo Bonner (AL-1) is the only Alabama member who has posted his requests. I’m not sure if any of the others were contacted – no information is given. Looks like there’s still time to contact Rep. Davis, et al, to see how transparent they really are!

    Hi Valerie,

Thanks for highlighting our efforts to make Congressional earmarks more transparent. I would like to encourage people to in fact continue asking their lawmaker to post their earmark requests so people can see what they’re asking for.

Feel free to contact me if there are any questions
