General Election Results Certified

Posted by Valerie on December 8, 2008

In all of the Thanksgiving holiday excitement, I forgot to write about the certification of results from the November 4th General Election.

A detailed accounting is now available from the Secretary of State’s web site, under Election Information 2008.  While perusing the write-in appendix of the report, I noticed that a lot of  counties were not included.  So if you’re looking to see how many Tuscaloosa county voters wrote in a candidate for office, you’re out of luck.

Also: 2008 Voter Registration Statistics, through October 31st, are available for download.

National Archives’ World War II Archive

Posted by Valerie on December 7, 2008

The National Archives (NARA) has partnered with Footnote to digitize their extensive holdings. They recently launched their World War II collection, which includes an interactive USS Arizona Memorial as well as photos and documents from the time. Parts of the site are interactive – users can search for Army enlistment records and upload a photo of their relative who was involved in the war.

The collection is freely accessible “for a limited time” – however I haven’t been able to determine how limited.

For more information about the project, see the press release.
